A Roaring Good Time with Prop Pieces for Broadway's King Lear
William Shakespeare’s King Lear is a play filled with turmoil, struggle for power, deceit… and excellent set props. For Broadway’s showing at the Cort Theatre, Czinkota Studios was asked to create a number of prop pieces, one of them being an exact replica from a supplied photo of a ceramic lion. We started by making computer models and then milled pieces in foam. We then hand detailed and painted the finished sculpture, keeping in mind the prop’s need to appear as a heavy duty ceramic piece, while remaining lightweight and durable.
